Ikonta 524/16 Color/DIN indicator

Hi everyone

 

would someone be able to explain how to use the film type indicator on the ikonta 524/16

i got the DIN/ISO/ASA part but i wonder about the three section on the knob:

-/10° DIN (12 to 30) white background

-COLOR (6 to 24) white background

-COLOR (6 to 24)brown background

I suppose you realize that this is just a reminder of the film type and doesn't actually DO anything?

 

One of the Ikonta manuals at Zeiss Ikon Camera instruction manuals should have an explanation - these were old European film speeds.

yep i totally got that and i got hold of the manual there but there no explanation concerning the "color" indications! I was hoping someone could enlighten me.

It's for my personal understanding ofcourse becaus it's just an indicator.

Sure, I just mentioned it in case.

I tried to find an old Agfa film speed list, but don't have any in my files that I can locate, anyhow.

That's actually strange because it doesn't match those i found on the net

like this one:

ASA DIN ISO

As the table said, these were not originally based on the same "system" so comparisons are only approximate at best.

 

Also, ASA and other systems were revised from time to time, so that's another variable.

I'm not sure which background is which, but color film is available as both negative and slide, so that might explain why there are two color reminders and only one for B&W.
