Andy Murphy
Using Windows 10, I download the .DAT file and open it with Notepad getting what appears to be a label, "FWUP0008.DAT" with a notation as to file size. I copy it to formatted SD card and try and open it to be sure that file name matches but there appears to be nothing else. My usual experience with .DAT files is that they may look unreadable but I am hesitant to load this label into the X-Pro2 and maybe turn it into a brick. . Uhooru
Andy, I just downloaded and updated my X-Pro2. I'm using a Mac, but there's nothing in the Fuji instructions about using a text editor. You should follow the exact instructions on the Fuji site. Full battery. Format the cards in both slots. You use the card in slot 1. Just download the file and take that file straight to your SD card, put it in the slot. Turn on the camera while holding the display back button. Follow the directions. Don't turn the camera off or touch it while it loads. It takes at least 90 seconds. Don't turn the camera off while updating or touch the shutter button. The Fuji site gives very complete step by step. I highly recommend doing it exactly as they direct. They have down load instructions for Win as well as Mac. Good luck, its actually pretty easy if you follow the steps.
Andy Murphy
Thanks! I stumbled when I opened .DAT in folder after it downloaded and saw it as an Adobe PDF file, but later I realized that could not be as it is a .DAT file, then I thought it maybe Windows 10 solution for dealing with .DAT. But I soon realized that the .DAT did not change to a PDF and I copied that file to SD card, inserted it in X-Pro2, and it processed update, as you mentioned, in about 90 seconds. I then updated my X-Pro1 and my Fuji lenses, bringing everything Fuji I have up to date.
