Greetings from Ohio

Recommended Posts

I'm the grandpa-parazzi at family events and get-togethers, enjoy taking pics of wildlife (birds in particular because they're so plentiful) and occasionally take some random shots when the wife and I are out and about. Lately I've been lurking in some wedding photographer forums, but I'm looking at things like general setup and execution of photos instead of how to be a wedding photographer. Taking pictures is a great stress reliever for me when I'm not at work.

I signed up because I got interested in a couple of threads in here but can't read past the first page of each. I don't really want to be signed up on ANOTHER forum but I'm hoping I can read more than one page if I do sign up. I'm also hoping this site will turn out to be a daily stop.

At any rate I'm glad to have found y'all.

I see there is a Bugs Reports Part 1 thread and found that the issue "nothing past the first page in old threads" was mentioned, but it has no response. Soooo I was wrong thinking I needed to sign up to read past the first page. I'm disappointed but it is what it is: no worries.

HoofArted, are you a fan of horse racing? Many years ago it gave my brother extreme delight to listen to the call of races that included a horse by your name. The Jockey Club works very hard to exclude "inappropriate" names, but by using Hoof Art Ed, that one got by.

On the more-than-one-page thing, I think you are unusual. I can read all pages. I wonder if it's your browser?

Julie, I think it's mainly the much older threads. Here's an example of one where I cannot see past the first page: Capturing Aerial Image

This thread has the advantage of another fine name, HelenBach. A poster I miss, as she had huge depths of knowledge. A little short in this case, though (I actually did explain how to do it, but seem to be on the missing page).

Hoofarted, welcome to photo.net. You might want to try asking the missing questions again, just to see if any current members can answer.

You're right! They were all gone, then they came back, I could swear. Maybe I'm mis-remembering. Seems to happen more than I would like ...

Anyway, I should have re-checked before posting.

Thanks for the welcome. And no, Julie H, I'm not a horse racing fan but know about the one you're talking about. I was a huge fan of Spike Jones growing up (think Beetle Bomb). :D

I didn't make a great concentrated effort to pin down exactly how far back I can go in old threads but it looks like the recent changes in here is the dividing line. I can read newer posts fine. I'm still exploring the site and figuring things out. It takes me a while to get up to speed when I sign up in different forums because each one is different. Again, no worries.

Those print-sound word shifts can be tricky. I remember years ago talking to one of my sisters about a film I had thought was pretty good, Prick Up Your Ears, and noticing, as I was saying the title that it had a different meaning given that the film was about a gay couple. To the LGBT community, the two meanings were probably obvious on sight; as I'm not LGBT, it took me by surprise.

I don't always LOL when I say LOL but I did LOL at that!
