brett_rogers
Dear fellow CMC enthusiasts, I have some very sad news to share with you. Some of you may have noticed that forum stalwart Tony Lockerbie had not been active here at photonet for a while. Tony was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago and had been bravely fighting it. He found out several months ago that it had metastasised into his liver and other parts of his body and was not going to be curable. I received a message via Facebook from Tony's dear wife of many years, Alana, to say that Tony succumbed to his illness and passed away Wednesday 15th March. I'd been aware of his prognosis for some time but Tony, being gracious as ever had not mentioned this publicly, so I did not feel it was in my place to mention it here until now. But I know many of you will have been very fond of him, as I certainly was, myself, and would surely want to know, of his passing. My thoughts are with Alana and her and Tony's grown up children. By all accounts they are an exceptionally close family—Tony was a loving and completely devoted father and husband and they will be keenly feeling his loss right now. Thanks, Brett

SCL
I always enjoyed Tony's contributions, as did many others I believe. May his family take comfort in knowing he had many friends far and wide who will share the sadness of his passing. Steve

Pinklather
Brett, thank you for letting us know. I knew Tony was in a battle, but never heard any detail. Here and other forums, Tony was incredibly gracious & kind, with a complete absence of artistic pretense. His work was amazing & did SF at a level of quality that just had me shaking my head. 'Very saddened by the news & wish all comfort for his loved ones.

rick_drawbridge
Yes, he had confided some time ago that he was gravely ill, and I'd heard nothing from him since before Christmas and feared the worst. I will miss him both as a fellow Antipodean and a fine and friendly photographer.
Argenticien
I worry anytime a thread starts with simply someone's name, as I know our little corner of photo.net trends considerably higher than average on the age scale. Sad news and Tony will be missed, even from 15,000 km away. He was a brilliant contributor here. Clearly Tony was not the type to restore his CMCs for life as shelf-queens; his photos of sea and sand were a beautiful testament to his having got out and about to shoot with them. --Dave
marc_bergman1
I will miss his beautiful images of his coastline. I mentioned once that as I had moved inland, hundreds of miles from the sea, that his pictures reminded me of what I now lack. My condolences to his family.
