Clean & Lubricate an Autoknips Self-Timer?

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience opening up an old Autoknips II self-timer to clean and lubricate it? I am mechanically proficient, but have limited experience working on watches and small, complex mechanical devices like cameras, lenses, or (presumably) these old self-timers. I don't want to open it up only to have an explosion of springs, gears, and levers I'll never be able to reassemble.

The Autoknips is functional, but the timing is slow. My goal is just to clean it up and lubricate it in the expectation that it will work more smoothly.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks much,

Jim
