borderlight photography
Two of the major advantages to the Mamiya 7 is the 43mm lens and the 6X7 negative. It is also advertised as great for landscapes. However the polarizing filter is real tough to use on a rangefinder. It seems that the split field filters have a better chance to cover bright areas in the frame without actually seeing the scene. If I had a Cokin filter holder on a rangefinder and I wanted to cover up the top third of the sky with the ND part, would I divide the lens in thirds and insert the filter from the bottom (like a view camera) to get the desired result? Conversely, if I had a screw on ND filter divided in half, would the ND part go on the bottom half?
paul_wilson2
The image gets inverted after it passes through the lens, not before. Therefore, you should put the dark part on the top, not the bottom.
