Sony/Minolta pictures of the week | 23 October

<p>On a walk in a local nature reserve last week and I came across this sunlit fern:</p>

<p>Thank you, Howard. I am surprised by the disregard that such workers show for their own well being. The man in my photo has a pair of ordinary dark glasses -- but he is wearing them on his head.</p>

Mukul, one of my youthful jobs was welding tv towers. Even with a welders hood we would get

"sunburned" eyes if we checked the arc too often. Wish he were at least wearing the sunglasses.

<p>Exactly, Randy. I told the chap that his eyes may not last long if he didn't protect them: but I don't know if my words will have any effect.</p>
