guy_emerson
I Have a Minolta X-300 and the problem lies with the inability of the MC Coupler to 'spring' back into place. This results in my light meter not being able to read any differences on the aperture ring. Know of any solutions?
rokkor fan
Your camera needs a service Guy, the spring has come loose and there's not really any way you can confidently repair it while ensuring meter accuracy if you are not an experienced repairer. This should be a simple fix for your local repairperson, and an opportunity to have your camera lubed and adjusted at the same time. douglas_green1
Actually, it depends very much on what caused it. It could either be that the string that connects to the meter movement is broken - this will require a major repair. Or it could be that the ring itself has too much friction with the body - often caused by a ding which has bent the ring, or just has accumulated dirt & grime. That's an easy fix if you had the replacement ring, and were comfortable with mechanical assembly and dissassembly. I've fixed several that were like this. It only requires removing the mount and cleaning/straightening/replacing the ring. But if the string that connects the ring to the meter movement is broken or gone, the whole top of the camera needs to come off, and it is better left to a pro.
