Film rewinding problems with Dynax (Maxxum) 7

Recommended Posts

Hi,

had anyone problems with film rewinding in Dynax (Maxxum) 7?

After the film is finished, the camera has problems with rewinding.

I have to switch it off and on couple times and then finally it

rewinds. Sometimes I have to shake it slightly, but it seems to be

not the best way ;)

Maybe someone faced already such a problem and knows the reason. I'm

affraid I have to give it to the service isn't t?

This may be too dumb of a suggestion and you've probably looked at it already, but just in case I'm going to go ahead and say it...

The 7 is famous for swallowing batteries. After 30 rolls or so I have to change them even though the indicator says the batteries are full. I don't have problems rewinding film but I notice it in the autofocus, which becomes incredibly slow (specially with the bulky 28-70 G).

I hope that's what it is.

Regards,

Julian

7s are battery hogs, but mine always rewinds without fault. Too little battery juice will result in total lock down and a message, "Replace batteries". It won't do the sort of temperamental thingy you describe. For my money, this unit is defective and needs to be seen by the Mind's service center in NJ. Hope you bought it less than a year ago, or bought an extended warranty, and there's no impact damage.

Buy the VC-7. It will pay for itself in a short time, just in battery savings. Besides it gives the 7 better balance and the vertical release is handy also. The only problem is that its hard to use one of the buttons like AEL and move the focus sensor when you are using the vertical grip.
