deborah_newell
I use two Minolta Cameras HTsi - STsi when photographing people in bright sun light - all modes - 160 & 400 film in AF somtimes will not confirm focus. Both Cameras will lock up. Switched to Manual and it does the same. This is both very frustrating & embarassing as I like to take wedding photos. Camera shop has looked them over and cleaned all connections.
emaxxman
Since your lens/camera contacts are now clean, I'm going to guess that the problem is now something that is going to require a technician to look at. Either the af screw drive isn't working or the contacts are failing for some reason. It's possible that the camera just thinks it's in manual focus mode. Did you use it in manual focus mode prior to discovering this problem?
jim_karr1
What kind of lens? Reason I ask is some Sigma lenses will LOCK up Minolta bodies. While I've never seen it happen on an HTsi or STsi, I've seen it happen on a Maxxum 7.
