Can you tell me the difference between a Dynax5000i and a Maxxum5000i apart from the visiable flash?, If i was to buy one as a second camera which would be the best?, What is a good average price between the 2?. Thanks any help will be much appreciated.
costas_lymbouris
AS far as I am aware, the Minolta Maxxum range is the product name Minolta use in North America and Dynax the name used elsewhere. So Dynax and Maxxum cameras with the same designation are the same. The current range is the 4, 5, 7 and 9 models that are currently replacing the 404si, 505si, 600si, 700si and 800si. The n000i range is now over 10 years old and are good reliable cameras that you should find cheaply. You might also consider the 7000i and 8000i, you might be lucky and get one at a very good price. Do a search on EBAY, selecting completed items to see what prices they have recently gone for. The camera body is only one aspect in getting good pictures, you should also think about the lens that will go with it. Not sure what you will be using your camera for, but stick with Minolta lenses. The 35 - 105mm and 28 - 105mm Minolta zoom lenses are both good general purpose lenses that give good performance for the money.
bacsa
For these not-the-newest minolta cameras + lenses etc there's a very good webpage of the minolta users group. Describing camera features in detail, comparisons, tricks and tips...anything you want.
I also don't know about any real difference between the dynax and maxxum versions except the place where they marketed them.
have a good light.
