Help with Minolta Auto Meter IIIF in Flash Mode

When taking light meter reading in flash mode, the meter keeps giving

reading of "E", meter reading is out of range at lower exposure, over

f/45+.

Do I need a special spherical diffuser to meter in flash meter

reading mode? I thought flahs reading can be made with default

spherical diffuser.

If I set it to ambient mode, the light meter works fine.

I don't know why your IIIF is saying it's out of range, but I do know that you don't need a special diffuser. With mine I can't get it to work at the higher shutter speed setting, but it works fine at the slower speed setting. Somethings wrong inside, but I don't really care. Does yours fail at both shutter speed options?

The meter works in AMBI mode, but does not work on both 60 and 250 flash metering modes. I took it over at Quality Light Metrics Co in Hollywood, CA and they determined that the circuit board was bad. They replaced it and it works as good as new.

I orginally called Minolta to have it fix, but they no longer service the Minolta Auto Meter IIIF. Good thing Quality Light Metrics Co. still service older light meter devices.
