Nikon Wednesday 2017: #4

<p>This is the Nature Center at Asbury Woods, Erie, Pennsylvania back in 2011.<br>

I thought the flowers growing on the roof was pretty neat.</p><div></div>

<p>I'm glad that I shot this old barn back in 2011 because it was demolished last year. </p><div></div>

<p>And finally, with apologies to the eyeballs of anyone looking at this on a fairly saturated monitor, it's not Yellowstone without Grand Prismatic.</p>

<p>Not yet 4 years old, granddaughter Iris doesn't know how to spell words yet, but she does know how to design a figure using letters of the alphabet using refrigerator magnet letters, proving the creative imagination is alive and well in children.</p><div></div>

<p>For Time Travel Tuesday, I can go back to the 60's. Here's my friend Bill, relaxing with a cig, 1969. We were roommates in college, 19 years old. I had my first Nikon: Ftn with the 50mm 1.4 lens. I usually shot tri-x so I could develop negs and print my own prints, but I took a class in photography and had to shoot slides for the assignment: a portrait of someone.</p><div></div>

<p>I have a lot of stuff from the late 60's, early 70's. Here's a series of shots I took while flirting with this pretty girl at a 4th of July party, 1970. We were outside in the early evening. I remember having Plus-X in the camera (iso 125) and it was getting dark out so I was shooting at 1/15 sec, hand held wide open at f 1.4. The resulting images are kind of soft and glowing, which I really like.</p><div></div>

<p>Here are some from "way" back in 2005. Taken with a CoolPix 7900, my first purpose-bought little digital (my film camera at the time was my trusty Pentax K1000). </p><div></div>

Was in the land of the "Greatest Snow on Earth" for two weeks. Unfortunately I was fighting a severe case of bronchitis so on the way home I forced myself to take these at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I am so glad I don't have to shovel rain in Cali.<br /><br /></p><div></div>

<p>@Tom: thanks bringing back the memories. Did that hike (alone) in Summer of 1993; on the Knife's Edge on all fours at times (not the least because of the rather strong wind ;-)).</p>
