aplumpton
Very sad news. I new Tom only through his very generous replies to my few email questions in regard to a Japanese photographer and craftsman he knew. He was a keen and intelligent person. I offer my sympathies to his wife and family.

Alex_Es
Tom was a good friend and my wife and I are grieving. Our condolence to Tuulikki Abrahansson and their extended family. He was a brilliant man and always a pleasure to be with. Anyone who remembers Leica in the analogue days, should know the Rapiwinter, a rugged tool based on the old and vulnerable .Leicavit. It inspired CV to come out with its Triggerwinder and Leica to introduce a modern version of the Leicavit. Rest in Peace, Tom. You led a good life. Brian1664876441
I was shocked to read this on the web, Tom was a true gentleman, innovator, and enthusiast. You do not meet many people like him going through life.
mypersonalfavorites
Very sad news to all Leica/Rangefinder photographers. He was a man to spend quality time with anyone no matter what skill level. Great man who was very willing to share any information about using a rare lens to the mixing of film developer. He was the one who encouraged me to make/use Pyrocat HD & HDC. His love for b&w film was one that spread to his many friends across the world. RIP my friend you will be missed.

roy_ramavarapu1
Very sad to read this. A true gentleman - vast patience even for strangers like me with trivial questions. I emailed Tom on his Leica soft release buttons (softies), and he and Tuulikki Abrahamsson (wife) guided me in their email reply - they even wrote me after several days to confirm if I received the items that I purchased. More than this, I never missed reading his comments on the different websites on Leica - Tom wrote from experience with the other user (like me) in mind. Tom Abrahamsson will be missed by the Leica users.
Roy Ramavarapu, 08 Jan 2017
baisao
There's no way around it. I am stunned and saddened. I knew he was having health problems but still never imagined this. Others have said it better.

grumblepunk
I just saw this. What a legend. I spent many, many hours reading what he wrote and staring at his cameras. Thank you so much for everything, Tom. You are very missed.
michael_marks2
I am very saddened by this news. I never met Tom but bought many of this Softies over the years. Both he and Tuulikki were always helpful and generous with their time, be it on the phone or through email responses. A true gentleman for sure. While I never met him, I am certainly better off for the experiences I had. While he produced great products, my guess is that he touched people in ways more profound and enduring.
mark_amos
It is curious and moving to consider how a photo community can create bonds between us while many of us are in so many ways yet total strangers. I suppose sharing a passion is always the first basis for friendship. I am very sad to hear this. RIP good soul.
Gus Lazzari
Lifting up in prayer the loved ones he left behind. I do believe in what the Bible teaches, that Tom is in a much better place; RIP "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" Revelation 21:
