Laura Weishaupt

Basic Guidelines: Nature based subject matter. Please, declare captive subjects. Keep your image at/under 1000 pixels on the long axis for in-line viewing. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site at Flicker, Photobucket, your own site, etc. Feel free to link your image to a larger version. In the strictest sense, nature photography should not include hand of man elements. Please refrain from images with obvious buildings or large man made structures like roads, fences, walls. Minimize man made features and keep the focus on nature.

Are you new to this thread? We post one image per week. It's time to start another, the last of November. While winter colors are ahead for many, our friends in other parts of the world see spring hues and greet the long days of summer. As seasons change so do our subjects. We get new chances at migratory animals and changed landscapes present fresh challenges. Nature is ever changing and all we have to do is step outside and enjoy the show.

A new week brings another Monday in Nature.

Leslie Reid
One thing the onset of winter brings to the coast is storm swells, and when combined with a natural blow-hole, magic happens. Laura Weishaupt
Gordon,
Nice that you stopped for the Ischnoderma. Fungi like that really deserve more attention as they have such lovely textures and are especially pretty when laden with droplets. I've no doubt that you've seen them in many moods.

Mary Doo, lovely, simply lovely water.

Jon,
I've seen small birds go into those large nests, and come out with something to munch on, then re-enter. Of course, no camera in hand. I brought it along in hopes of a shot, but never saw the bird at that nest again.

Leslie,
Very nice, and a beautiful reminder of west coast storms. I used to live on the central Oregon coast. Watching the big waves crash in was always a good time in Depot Bay. Nothing else sounds like that.

Matthew Currie
A bit of a delay getting home to bleak, rainy Vermont after visiting Georgia. Anyway, a last hurrah to the summery southern weather, a hike through Phinizy Swamp, where the drought is taking its toll but the scenery is still pretty nice.
