Nikon D500 Available - but act FAST

<p>I've been checking around at various online stores for availability and to my amazement, it was available at Unique Photo (https://www.uniquephoto.com/), which is a legit, reputable store in Fairfield, NJ. I've done business with them several times in the past.</p>

<p>Knowing that internet store fronts sometimes do not reflect true inventory, I picked up the phone and asked them, and sure enough, they had one (as of 5/19, 12:30 pm Eastern time). So, I ordered it.</p>

<p>Now here's the interesting thing for all of you: I asked the sales person if this was the only one in their inventory and he said that they actually have a 'fair amount' of bodies in stock. He didn't provide an actual number. So, if you're in the market now, I would highly recommend going to Unique Photo, and to make sure it's still in stock, order via phone. Ask for Kevin.</p>

<p>It looks like Best Buy also has D500 in stock or will be getting a bunch of them soon. Since Nikon delayed the release of the D500 by a month to accumulate more in stock at introduction (at least that was their official reason for the delay), I would imagine that they should have more stock on hand. Hopefully the shortage will ease.</p>

<p>I pre ordered one as soon as I was able and up until a few days ago when I cancelled my order, I still had not received it. </p>

<p>This is why I cancelled my order. My local best buy had 3 in stock. I drove down and bought the last one. The salesman told me they all went the same day. I was blessed. <br>

Amazon had them with the kit lens, but are marked way up. New egg also has the bodies, but also at 2300.00. I paid 2k for mine.</p>

Amazon themselves doesn't mark them up. When you see higher prices on Amazon, it is the third party sellers selling

through Amazon. Some of those are "international," I.e. gray market.

<p>Now one day later, I just re-checked Unique's web site. The D500 is still in stock, in both flavors: body only and with kit lens.</p>

<p>Neither Adorama nor B&H has it in stock. Best Buy is showing in stock on May 25, which is next Wednesday. In other words, while the D500 is still not in stock all over the place, if one looks around a bit, it is not that hard to find.</p>

<p>I pre ordered my d500 from Unique Photo and it arrived in 9 days.Ordered on 5/10 and it arrived 5/19.</p>

<p>To me, it clear that the D500 is another excellent camera from Nikon. Of course, Nikon had from 2007/2009 to 2016 to fine tune its design such that there should be a lot of improvements.</p>

<p>Incidentally, B&H once again has the D500 kit in stock but not the body only. It looks like the D500 shortage is finally easing.</p>

<p>Both B&H and Adorama have the kit (with the 16-80mm E DX lens). The D500 shortage is pretty much over. Expect discounts to begin soon, probably starting with free items such as free extra battery, maybe free memory card and gradually move onto actual price discount.</p>

<p>I would imagine that one of the first discounts would be the D500 with the 16-80mm lens bundle. As the lens isn't currently discounted in the bundle, there is much room to reduce the bundle price.</p>
