n65 Lens

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I have a Nikon n65 camera with the standard lens. I know that most Nikkor lens are compatible with the camera and it's autofocus feature but I was wondering if I am able to use a canon or any other lens and still use the autofocus feature. I know I will need an adapter but which adapter would I need? and which lenses would work with this feature?
Thanks in advance!!

Canon lenses will not fit, and there is no adapter which will make them fit any F-mount camera, including your N65. Sigma, Tamron, Tokina and other lenses for Nikon mount will fit, although many later model lenses will have trouble with the electronic communication with the N65.

If you want to use a Canon lens on a camera body of the more or less the same vintage as your N65, you can buy a used Canon EOS Rebel XS in excellent condition for less than $20 here, and possible for less elsewhere.

Neither will fit on a Nikon, but note that Canon has two incompatible lens series, the older (before AF) FD (and FL) series, and the newer (with AF) EF series.

As they are not compatible with newer cameras, the FL lenses and cameras are a little cheaper, but not all that much. Older Nikon cameras and AI (pre AF) lenses do fit on newer cameras, but are still very reasonably priced. (Many people like AF.) Canon film cameras using EF lenses, and the lenses for them, are still reasonably well priced.

There are some adapters between different lens systems, but none that I know of that couple auto focus through. It might be that some couple aperture closing though, but not, as far as I know, aperture position. (That is, for shutter priority or program mode.)

When shopping for an N65 lens, be aware that manual lenses will not meter at all with this camera, and that pre-AI manual lenses cannot be used at all. Old lenses converted to AI may or may not, depending on the conversion.

The N65 will work with both AFS and older AF lenses, though.
