Do you use speed-lights

Is the question speed light vs available light? Unless you are a second photographer on the job as a photojournalist there is no way around not having to use a speed light. Now if your asking about other portable on camera or off camera strobes then that is another question.

As an outdated amateur I'd bring some. As a guest having my fun with my camera I might not use them. But I'm sure somebody will celebrate their wedding and reception in some cave even too dark for an A7S II with fast primes and expect noise free posters...

Harry, using speedlights in wedding photography helps not only with the quantity of light which is often low, but allows improving the quality of light. I would expect anyone charging for a wedding to have and know how to use speed lights, plural.

Agreed.

Even if you set up strobes for portraits or scene shots, having the ability to 'adjust fire' in a matter of seconds to accommodate candid and opportunity shots is a practical necessity. Especially if getting paid. Using and knowing how to add light as needed to optimize your results is part of what makes a pro.
