"Kodachrome" the movie

Recommended Posts

"... a father and son who take a road trip to Kansas in order to develop photographs at Kodak’s last Kodachrome lab before it closes its doors forever."

Doesn't sound like having much to do with actual photography even for those who used to take Kodachrome photographs. (Are images on slide film called "photographs'?)

At least the premise to the plot of the movie will be to show the uniqueness and beauty of Kodachrome or else it's going to be a pretty pointless movie to sit through.

Or maybe it's not even going to be about Kodachrome and more about a father and son relationship. And to that I say I still see more deep and meaningful relationships portrayed in "The Walking Dead" and "Better Call Saul" on cable TV than I've seen at the movie theater in the past couple of decades. Never thought that would happen.

From the Variety article:

The film is based on A.G. Sulzberger’s 2010 New York Times article “For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas” about a father and son who take a road trip to Kansas in order to develop photographs at Kodak’s last Kodachrome lab before it closes its doors forever.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Dwayne's didn't shut down a Kodachrome lab -- just a Kodachrome machine, yes? So, if I'm right, hopefully this is just a bone-head error on Variety's part and the notion of an entire lab being shut down won't somehow be twisted up into the movie's plot.

Most people just used mail order to send their film to Dwayne's. It would be interesting to see the plot line that justifies making the trip by car to bring the film there. Perhaps they don't have any exposed film but intend to take those one in a life time shots as they travel along.
