How to get this "look"

Hi guys, I've been looking at pictures of Mick Rock, Ryan McGinley and Guilles Larrain and noticed some of them have a very particular look that I'd like to get. Pretty sure Mick's and Guilles' photos were made with film, and McGinley's studio shots are supposedly all digital.
So yeah, I'd love your to know your input about what kind of lighting and postprocessing (film and digital) can be done to get this look.
Here's the link so you can check them out. Thanks a bunch!

You didn't even respond to a similar thread on the same photographers back in April... http://www.photo.net/portraits-and-fashion-photography-forum/00dDG8

I can't tell if you're really serious or just spamming for imgur.com.

Here's my answer. White balance and some HSL and you're done. That's how I see how to get that look.

Quite simple to find a post you were active in that you lost track of by clicking on the "Forum Postings" number in your PN My Workspace or Profile just as I did to find that previous thread you started and didn't respond to.

And the reason I started to suspect that this was spamming for imgur.com is because that link to that specific gallery of images has been posted at least 5 times in the past year or so. But I couldn't remember the other poster's names, but it doesn't really matter because anyone can post under a different name under a different account as long as they use a different email associated with the new name and start the same thread as if it's a different person.

So you might want to stick around and get involved posting like others here so we know you're for real.

Further investigation on that "Speedlooks" link took me to Adobe SpeedGrade and I found some info that might help you color grade with film looks coming up with these discussions searching using the term "can adobe speedgrade be used on Raw still images" which gave me these...

That's great Tim! Thank you very much again.
I'd like to know if anyone thinks I could get this look by using film and pushing it a bit? Perhaps using Portra 160 and pushing it 3 stops to 1600 ISO?

Been investigating a lot and I think that could possibly give the "rembrandt" look that I see in these pics (perhaps I'm the only one hehe). Anyway, I'm going to experiment a bit with it and post my results soon! If anyone has any input please do comment!
Thanks!
