How important is the image? drivesavers.com can usually get the data back, but DO NOT format the card or run anymore

software recovery programs. If they can't recover it NO CHARGE. Tell them I sent you and you will save 10 percent. Call

the 800 number for personal assistance. As soon as they get the card they will call you. They are fast and great to work

with. Hope this helps.

I did this for a living for a few years so trust me regarding drivesavers. Bob

+100 for Recuva by Piriform. This nice little bit of software has saved me from several assassinations in the recent past.

Recuva can be fiddly to work with at first, also slow, depending on what you want to recover. A recent accidental delete of an entire card by my partner involved a cautious approach and 2-3 hours of waiting while the software did its work, but in the end we got almost everything back on the card. It can also produce way to many results, some of them going back a long time. Odd what remains on a card even after many reformats! Select your Recuva options with care and repeat the process if need be.

Any other software please? I also deleted an image from my CF card, and stupidly took another some 10 pictures. Recuva didn't find the deleted image, though found several even older pics. Plz help. Sorry for reviving this old thread, but it seems the situation is close to mine. Thanks in advance.

I have used easeus for recovering deleted partitions from external hard drives. It might work for SD cards too.

i found the manufacturers of the memory cards have recovery software available. i had this problem once, i accidently formated an entire shoot. got Sony's recovery program from their product support and it recovered not only my most recent, but was also able to find other picture files from previous shoots i deleted long before that one.
The more you say, the less people listen.

To sort of sum up:

Deleting (except in forensic destruction) usually only removes a 'marker' to the file. If no new file has been written, the file remains intact. Good software can often find the area and reconstruct a path to it for the OS.

SO IT IS CRITICAL TO STOP USING THE MEDIUM UNTIL, IF EVER, YOU RECOVER THE LOST FILE.
