Member69643
I was looking at Google Earth's photo of the Delaware River near Philadelphia, when I noticed a strange artifact. Either there's an underwater airport in the river or somehow this photo got mixed with another...?
Brian
Looks like a crashed plane on the river bed. Why not? Must be hundreds of 'em...
Sandy Vongries
I came across this elsewhere -- apparently this is a common phenomenon caused by GE's use of stacked photos. There is a nonexistent aircraft in the middle of a lake in downtown Minneapolis, where a crash would certainly have been noticed. Where there are major airports near, this phenomenon can be found.
MichaelChang
Satellites are pretty high up in the sky so aircraft flying at much lower altitudes are imaged the same as ground level objects.

The slight blur or lack of detail (see the partially obscured wing) might be due to thin high altitude clouds obscuring the satellite's view.

The plane appears it might be a Fokker 100 or a much smaller corporate jet.

[Edit]
The photo posted with the question seems to have been removed.

jim_foley4
Looks like a reflection. You can see blue sky and clouds as well as the plane. The Navy Yard is just North of the Airport.
