benjamin_kim2
I really wanna try to send one color film to the best film lab to develop. Well, I still couldn't believe that I got normal digital pics from films.

http://www.kodak.com/global/images/en/professional/products/films/portra400/portra400_Canlas.jpg
http://www.maxwellmonty.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/sydney1-627x416-
300x200.jpghttp://www.cadebowmanphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/RA_FAM_BLOG-1.jpg
http://aria.photography/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/storyboard001.jpg

So I'm thinking to try develop one film from the best film lab. I live in NY btw. Richard lab seems to be the best film lab but the price for shipping and returning cost $20!! Maybe I can try the closest but best film lab in order to test out for what is wrong with my workflow.

bebu_lamar
What is your work flow? How a good lab can test your work flow? My question is not related to your question about the best film lab but since you ask us may be I can ask you? I am curious!
steve_parrott
Frankly, all you are asking for is an opinion poll. Already you have various answers. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a "best" lab. Any of the pro level labs are excellent. With the scarcity of use of film in today's world, a lab is not going to stay in business for long if they do poor work. I have used several labs all over the country and have never found one to be significantly better than another.
benjamin_kim2
Beau/ Well I scan films on Hasselblad X5 scanner for 3F raw file. And then edit them on flex color and photoshop. But I think I gonna use epson scanner for future.
bebu_lamar
You seems to have very good equipment. I would edit for color and density with the scanning software and not in photoshop. All you need is a lab that can process C41 correctly. Back in the old days all most all labs did that well. The better ones are the ones that did better printing job as the C41 process is totally automated and the good people made little difference. Today the situation changed. I would say the labs that do good work is the one that has enough jobs to keep their process under control. If you run too few rolls thru your processor it's very hard to keep the process under control.
