Sanford
What appears as a dark cloud at the top of the photo are anchovies, millions of them. Warm weather brings them to Monterey Bay followed by birds, sea lions, whales, sharks, and seals. There are so many, the birds don't even have to get wet, they can pick them off the beach after every wave. Some of the birds look too fat to fly. In the dock area they run pumps to oxygenate the water so the anchovies don't deplete the oxygen and start to die off. This influx happens from time to time over the years and I don't think it is "climate change" related. The whale watching tour business has never been better.

anthea50
Sanford, that's a really interesting shot. I really drawn in by the anchovies, but also the body language of the men checking it out. For this week, it's back into the garden for me. The first shot is of some flowers that we bought as seedlings that have taken so long to flower that we've both forgotten their names, but what the heck, they're finally blooming, and are really lovely, especially after they've been watered.
