I had a brief window of time last week (in direct, bright overhead mid-morning sun - ugh!) to get in some project shots for a client that does some fairly substantial landscape and pool work. Most of it was video, but nabbed a few stills along the way. Of course much of this was going to end up being used in usual aspect ratios in banner ads, or laid behind text in odd spots in print material, etc. - so it wasn't really about producing photos for the sake of my own eye. Mostly, it was hard to resist jumping in the pool under that hot sun. Just as I was scrambling around on some of the installed waterfall shots, I got a visit from a quite big grasshopper which insisted on flying into the scene whenever I moved. What a ham. Been photo-bombed by nature recently? Share! And a good Nikon Wednesday to all.

00dVIX-558557784.jpg.98212cc99171e2e08c954bccac393449.jpg

Hi everyone,

this week I'm paying homage to movie theater commercials from the 70's in Sweden. So of my youth. ;) Anyhow, there were these commercials for this hair shampoo which were shot with a very special look which I still see in Sweden or at least really associate with Sweden. So here are three photos taken during August when the light inspired me to go for that "look", so a little nostalgia on my part and so intentionally done this way ;) Shot with the D800 and the 70-200VR f/2.8 or the 24-70 f/2.8

1. Traveling home from Catalina Island off the California coast.... D800, f/8 @ 70 mm, 1/640, ISO 200, 0EV

Good evening, everybody.
As always, I have a couple of more dog photos. I love dogs - and walking my old golden retriever is about the only time I find for photography. The first one is of Lucy, a golden retriever who tends to greet her friends (like me) by rolling in what is mostly dust, thanks to the drought here in California.

I was walking around with the 200-500mm on a D750 just to try the lens out, and I saw some guy throwing a frisbee to his dog. The early morning light is kind of dim. That is a situation I wish I had f4 (or even f2.8).

At 500mm, f5.6, 1/1000 sec and auto ISO set up 1250. AF on the 200-500 does a good job.

00dVLX-558566284.jpg.d6da839d52b62ae2800bf4635deab46c.jpg

We spotted a tractor hauling what looked like a load of sand across the shallows to an island near Oliphant. Our pilot told us that this trip would not have been through water the last couple of years. The level of Lake Huron rose in 2015 because of more snow and lower evaporation (froze across in 2014-2015).

00dVLh-558566584.jpg.96fcc41e5390bbe46ff2200de1c135f4.jpg
