Unsure of lens to get

Recommended Posts

Im looking at upgrading my gear as I have a nikon 18-55(kit), nikon 50 1.8, Tamron 18-200 3.5-5.6, Tamron 19-35mm. Im unsure if I want to go full nikon or a mix. Im looking at Tamron 28-70, tamron 70-200, nikon 24-120, nikon 85 with 35 both 1.8. I like to do alot of environmental (with a background), newborns, maternity and couples. So what lens would you recommend and why.

Are you planning to win the lottery and get a D750 too? - You sound shooting DX (18-55(kit)) & shopping FX to me. - If your FF body is somewhere close to in reach let us know. - Otherwise I here would procrastinate the 24 - 120mm until then. I believe you save a few $$s buying it in a kit? - For DX I'd look for a f2.8 kit zoom substitute first and download software that figures out which focal length I am how frequently using to get my shopping list.
Is the 50mm working for you? - If so 35mm might be a smart next move DX, 85mm FX. - They are never wrong, its just do you like primes or not?

Separate your want from need and that should help you decide. For me the next lens has to be one that will make me money so I can continue to buy more lenses. I can narrow it down by my experiences on the job shooting when I find myself saying, I could really use a ___mm Lens to get better results or make the job easier. Trust me I have a full page list of lenses that I want.
I can't choose the lens for you. Only you know what you need.
