nevessa
Hi All!
Is it possible to retrieve files from a card that was deleted (not formated) then used partially? Does that use negate the recovery of the entire card?
bobatkins
Nope. You should be able to recover any files that haven't been overwritten. Same may even apply to a normally formatted card typical card formatting doesn't do a low level format and erase data.

How many files will be accessible is hard to say since files aren't always written in contiguous blocks so writing just one file could destroy the remnants of several other files, not just one.
JosvanEekelen
Do a search for recovery software, I have had good success with Convar but I'm not sure if it's still supported. An other one to consider is Recuva but there are several good ones around.

Ed_Ingold
I've used several products, but the best so far seems to be "EasUS Data Recovery Wizard" ($70). Most products will recover files, but assign new names and sometimes file extensions. EasUS manages to ferret out the original file names and often directories. I've used it on memory cards and hard drives, including almost perfect recovery of a 3 TB drive for a friend. Windows would not recognize the presence of a valid partition, yet EasUS grabbed the data.

Sorry to recommend something that costs real money, but the best products are seldom free. What's your data worth to you? You get a free trial which shows what EasUS finds. You only buy the product if you like what you see, and to actually recover the files. It's a good demo which reflects very well how the product performs.
studio1314
I am wondering how everything worked out for you and what program(s) you found to be helpful. I am in the same predicament and looking for the best option. Also, I am wondering what card manufacturer you used that gave you the problem? I had been using SanDisk and Lexar for years and never had a problem. I purchased a camera store line and now have a problem within only a few months of use. Thank you!
