mukul_dube
<p>Without knowing where you are, a difficult question. If you are willing to send the camera to Russia, there's www.okvintagecamera.com (Oleg Khalyavin).</p>
fritz_carlsson1
<p>I cannot assume you are in India by your name, but if you are, someone who probably could help would be Subbarayan Prasanna who is a fairly frequent Forum contributor about Russian cameras. He is very adept at fixing them.</p>
chuck_foreman1
I have two resources but these are for DIY. You will learn a lot from : http://www3.telus.net/public/rpnchbck/replace%20shutter%20ribbons.html Another source for the materials is in Japan http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/curtains/shutter-curtain.php If in Europe; These guys do good work but they are not so inexpensive. http://www.arluewa.de/service.html
vivek_singh3
@mukul: I did received an email from him as a reply for my query. He charges around $55 for Kiev 4. Can you suggest if he's good or are there any other options apart from him as Russia is a long shot for me. The shutter ribbon is worn off and it has problem with shutter coming back to its normal position. @Firtz: I'm as much Indian as my name is. Lol. Do you have any contact details of Subbarayan. Being in india I can even visit him for my solution. That would be a better option as it would be easier and quicker. @Chuck: thanks for the links. I'm an amateur when it comes to camera. So I am afraid I would do more damage while trying to fix it. Better have good professional hands for the solution.
mukul_dube
<p>Oleg is dependable. In addition to the $55 fee, you'll need to pay for shipping both ways. But he is probably your best option. Subbarayan Prasanna is a member here (http://www.photo.net/photodb/user?user_id=3667779) and you can send e-mail to him. You might also speak with Mohammad Hanif of Camera House, Kolkata.</p>
fritz_carlsson1
<p>Vivek, just Google PS's name and go into the given site from Photo.net. From there you will be able to send him an e-mail message.</p>
subbarayan_prasanna
<p>Hi! Vivek!<br> I just read this post. The Kolkata people can do a good job on your Kiev. I do not work on Kievs. In Kolkata there are two famous places for repair of cameras. One is <strong>Kamera Werke</strong> owned by <strong>SG Yazdhani</strong> and the other is <strong>Latif Precision Works</strong>. The latter has a web site that you can open and browse from Google, easily. I usually send my impossible repair items to Mr Yazdhani. You may call their company between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Good luck.<br> <strong>Mr S.G.Yazdhani</strong><br> Messrs.
