Printing panaramic negs

OK, besides the obvious answer of having a pro shop do it...

Have you thought about taking an enlarger, say an Omega D-2, and modifying it?

Ansel Adams, in his book, "The Print," talks about how he built his own 8x10 enlarger. You could do something similar with a D2 as a starting point. You'd at least have a track and focusing mechanism built for you. The light source, negative holder, etc., would need to be constucted. It isn't that difficult to build something which is ugly and highly functional.

It is possible to print a 6x17 with a 5x7 enlarger. However, depending upon the type of light source on the enlarger, you may have some falloff at the ends of the film. The 5x7 light source would have to be checked to see if the illumination area is even to the edges. An 8x10 enlarger / light source would guarantee no falloff at the edges.
