l_castro
I took a photo of a big silver tuba and I want to print it in a 26x18 size. Should it be glossy or matte? Just wondering if the glossy would be better because it is a shiny silver.
howard_m
There is no 'should'. Only what you as the 'artist' want. A decent printer can make either work and they'd each convey something different. As a learning exercise, get a small print done in both.
And you could also use Moab Slickrock Silver (metallic)
jose_angel
The tube is shiny silver but the musician or the background could be not (I guess... ), so it is matter of a personal choice.
Notice that usually, glossy papers look contrastier (deeper blacks), while matte papers seem softer, with a smoother looking non-reflective surface.
There are no rules, use whatever you think will suit your visualization.
frode
Hi
You should also consider luster photo paper.
What is best will depend heavily on the image itself and your preferences. Most of my prints are on luster papers (currently I mostly use a 310 gsm baryta paper). If you are printing yourself you might consider one of those discovery packages that contains several types of papers.

Cheers,
