GPS Tracking

<p>Has anyone used these gps tracking devices in their luggage?I use a Pelican hard case to carry my lenses an it going into checked luggage and just wonder if they're worth looking into in case your bags gets misplaced.</p>

<p>You are not supposed to operate a GPS unit in a commercial airplane.</p>

<p>RF sources are prohibited on commercial aircraft unless specifically permitted.</p>

<p>Regardless, a gps needs to "see" the satellites in order to return information to you. If you put it in a case it won't work. It won't work in a building either, unless there's a line of sight to the satellites. So if its in a case a gps it doesn't have any chance of working to locate your case.<br>

There are RFID (radio frequency identification) chips that might work given the right circumstances. Maybe that's what you're asking about.</p>

My experience with GPS is that it work work reliably inside building (e.g. Airports). Here's an alternative that used GSM
