manfred_nehab
Hi,some time ago I purchased a 2x converter for my SL66E. I'm not satisfied with it. Only using it to extend the 5.6/250 I got unsatisfying results. It is very difficult to focus correctly, the setup is very instabile though the 250mm has no tripod-facility. with the tripod under the body it is a quite heavy but very flexible setup. the quality compared to the 250mm lens without converter is quite disgusting to me. Are there any other experiences with this part?
paul roark
I tried a 2x on my SL66 once and sent it back. I thought it was very overpriced in light of the mediocre optical results I saw. Also, with the 250, I wouldn't want to put that much leverage on my focusing rack. Recall also that your F stop goes to f 11 max -- too dark to focus well. (In fact, I make mistakes with my 250 without the 2x.) Given the optical, price and other problems, I'd get a top notch 35 mm telephoto for that range. Good luck. kornelius_j._fleischer
As far as I know Zeiss never made, not even considered a converter for the SL 66. What brand is the converter you used? A converter for the Sonnar 250 f/5.6 needs, for optical reasons, a design with protruding front lens element similar to the converter Hasselblad had made for the Tele-Superachromat 350. If your converter doesn4t have this shape: forget it.
manfred_nehab
Hi Kornelius, to my knowledge for the Rollei SL 66 exists only the original converter ?made? by Rollei. Anyhow for my SL66E I have the original.
