I recovered all deleted Jpeg files on a portable hard drives by freeware Recuva but 50% of recovered picture files are not able to open or view. I can read the file names and each file size is same as before. How to fix this problem ? or I need to use other files recovery freeware for better result ?
Thanks.

Probably the internal data in the file is corrupted or overwritten; I'd try what Jos suggested, but this is what can happen. Basically, information about the file and the actual content of the file are usually written in two different places, and while it can be possible to recover the information about the file (size, creation date, name etc.), the actual content of the file might be overwritten at that point already, and hence it cannot be recovered.

I tried several, and results are pretty much the same in my experience, so I wouldn't expect big gains. If the problem is what I hinted at (the actual data location on the hard disk being overwritten), the problem isn't Recuva, it's that there is no complete data left to recover.
