Need assistance with info on tablets....

<p>Most information on tablets is pretty much straight forward. However, with such small capacity (memory), I'm not sure that it's possible to download photos from SD card to an external hard drive (?). This is certainly possible on laptops or netbooks. The reason I'm perplexed is that none of this is provided by a manuf....I mean even with mini USB port provided. </p>

<p>Anyway, can this be accomplished ? Would prefer to take a tablet with me vs hauling laptop furniture. Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>I have a Kindle Fire HD 7" with 16 GB storage (less than half actually available due to OS and app requirements). I could get an external SSD drive, via USB or wifi. Several Fire HD and android tablet owners say these external SSDs work well for external storage of movies, photos, etc. Amazon Prime now offers unlimited cloud storage, which is pretty convenient as long as I have wifi access, so I've postponed adding an external drive.</p>

 

<p>But the apps I've tried are too limited in photo editing capabilities to bother with for anything other than quick edits to JPEGs. I would be interested in a serious mobile app only if it handled raw and TIFF files. </p>

 

<p>I haven't tried it with Android, but no problems with my Windows 8.1 8" tablet. I use a USB hub normally powered by an AC adapter, instead powered by an external battery power bank, then I can plug in several USB peripherals including HDDs. </p>
