Leica Correspondent Edition

<p>Just watched the unboxing video. What do you Leica folks think of the new Lenny Kravitz designed Correspondent Edition of the M?</p>

I wish I had that kind of money to spend on one. It was all I could muster to afford a used M9 that had just had a new

sensor installed.

Of course it's nice, but there is something poser in buying a new camera, handled with white gloves no less, that comes "pre-worn". It's all about appearances.</p>

<p>Worn Leicas have a special charm. But why not beat up what we have instead of buying such a special edition? - Yes its beautiful, but I can't afford it.</p>

<p>For a modest sum, I offer myself to put some dings, dents, dirt and scratches to Lenny's new Aston Martin DB9. Hotel & flight apart, I think that's reasonable. Please contact me via PM.</p>

<p>Mukul, I am even willing to pee onto the spare wheel after drinking a bottle of Dom Perignon, introducing a kind of controlled luxury oxidation. Prices at expense.</p>

<p>It is pretty silly, but these things obviously work for old ma Leica or she wouldn't keep doing them.</p>

Do they scratch the sensor, LCD,

and the finder as well?

<p>In the grand scheme of things Leica isn't a big company.<br>

If the many thousands of dollars they make on these special editions helps keep them in business so they can continue to make such pedestrian items such as 35mm Summicrons and the such....then I say the more they sell the better.</p>

<p>For the price charged, you'd think that the "<strong>patina</strong>" would have been more technical & researched.<br>

They have rubbed off areas that simply <strong>aren't</strong> logical and therefore lack true authenticity...</p>

<p><strong>i.e.</strong> They isolated the wear at the lens focus knurling in a couple of spots instead of even all around, and the wear around the <strong>entire</strong> preview lever base, rather then the typical outside edges & front where the fingers contact most etc.</p>

<p>Enzo Ferrari once said that there would always be enough crazy people to buy his cars. The same goes for these silly Leica special editions. Nothing against Lenny, but why "correspondent?"</p>
