Rebel T6s: the end of the advanced amateur series?

While the new 5Ds and 5DsR cought our attention, the also new T6s shows several major changes to the Rebel line: a price over

US$1,000, top LCD display, Quick Control Dial, etc. Am I the only one thinking Canon's new customer verticalization may be the ending

of the xxD (also known as "advanced amateur") DSLR series? Is there a market for an 80D after the T6s?

The top price is $900 for the body... . which is less than the original digital rebel debut price.:)

I suspect the AF system is identical to the 70D. As for image quality -> I may well be wrong; but isn't it the same resolution as the 7DII? In which case I would suspect it is the SAME sensor, and therefore the same performance.

Not clear to me the future of the XXD line considering the feature set -> But I suspect the XXD bodies will be physically larger -> and that may be enough.

I'm sure they'll put the new 24 MP sensor in the 80d, and then drop the price of the 70d to $999, sell this new T6s for 849 or even 799, and sell the new 80d for $1,299. Right now the 70d body is $1,099. They only have to drop it $100 to do what I'm talking about, and with the introduction of a new body like the T6s, I'd say something like this is coming. The 70d is not old, but it's been on the market long enough that it could be refreshed. I just wonder what they're going to do after the 90d has been on the market for a year. Maybe they'll stop making DSLR bodies by then and go completely mirrorless by that time.
