Mary Doo
I am not happy with the way I use keywords right now. I would like to have a keyword tree in hierarchy. I would like to buy an all-inclusive list.

Does anyone know where I can find this? Thanks.

qalam
The idea is interesting, but $89.95 seems a bit steep for a file with 5,500 Keywords.

Mary Doo
Andrew, thanks. I can't seem to find any description of the content. Would be nice if he at least describes the categories and provide some examples.

Peter, yes, would you like to think of (and enter) 5,500 keywords in an orderly manner? ;)

I would appreciate further resource and if anyone has tried these. Thanks.
peterbcarter
Mary, I would just add the keyword list one at a time, as I process each image. I would never have thought someone would actually want a list of keywords before the photos. It would just not occur to me.

No criticisms, just surprise.

However, when I look at my keywords, most of them would be hard to find in a list. What list would have "Barbary Coast Burlesque" or "Handsome Dick Manitoba?" "Fetish is in the dictionary, but I wonder if it's going to show up in a prepared keyword list. Maybe "mosh pit" will be there.
Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
qalam
There is a Website that explains how to make hierarchy-based keyword lists for Lightroom. Several versions of full lists are offered for sale, The main difference in the versions is whether a geographical subset is included. Each list costs $39. http:://www.photo-keywords.com/
digitaldog

Andrew, thanks. I can't seem to find any description of the content.

Here's what Seth wrote me to help answer the question:

Our list also includes lots of keywords that are broad based and all of them can easily have more keywords added but it covers all of the bases including things like techniques for example. Items like blurs, motion, one person, two persons etc. etc. These are all keywords that the major stock agencies like Getty and Corbis now use as well. The list is over 8500 keywords. It can be used in Bridge but it is designed for Lightroom. Your existing keywords would be listed in alphabetical order in this list. You would have to merge them into our parents.

Author “Color Management for Photographers" & "Photoshop CC Color Management" (pluralsight.com)
Mary Doo
Thanks for all your help. Your questions and suggestions make sense.

Andrew, I appreciate your explanation of Seth's keyword list. It seems very comprehensive, leaning toward commercial applications.

For now Benoit's link (http://www.photo-keywords.com/) looks very interesting and, being a nature/landscape/wildlife photographer, these keyword lists may be a better fit for me. I am thinking one of these would give me a good base to begin adding/modifying/building. Thanks Benoit!
