POTW 3/1/2015

Back.

A bit of a montage today. I have to say I'm very impressed with the K3's ability to handle cold weather. I was out with it for a couple of hours in the -8 F/-22 C and did not see any real issues with focusing or battery drain. I was also able to manipulate the settings with bulky gloves largely because the +/- exposure dial is on top.
So first a shot from Friday.
From Barcelona, some more of the incredible lighting in the Sagranda Familia

and just to make this totally global, a shot from last June on Naviti, Fiji

The weather was a little better this weekend, a balmy 23+ degrees. I usually like to include people in my pictures, but I came up short again. Maybe I need to start going out on Saturdays instead od Sundays...

my 15 & 16 year old kids are dying for a skiing trip to austria. Unfortunately for them I have other (financial) priorities, like a house to renovate and sell, and a wedding in Surinam. So that leaves them drooling over the above Burt jr skiing.....
Little time I have, these were taken within the hour, yesterday :

I'm so glad I can shoot from the comfort of my living room during this crappy weather!

Yury-looks like you had a nice day out with your camera. I have never been good about casual images on the street; I feel intrusive. Nice to know you aren't as inhibited as I.
Looks like Harry and Brad snatch the color/colour awards this week. It's always great to see an occasional Medium Format image in here too. My 67 has 6 inches of dust on it. I really should do something about it.
and Matt's the light king. Nice work, especially like the shot with your son.
Wow Dorus a "wedding in Surinam". Sounds pretty exotic! Hope you bring your trusty DSLR and capture a few snaps for us. Nice abstracts too.

Dave-nice catches there. Isn't it fantastic that North America is blessed with spectacular red-crowned Northern Cardinals a common winter bird? They always look so magnificent with a little snow blended in.

PS. I have to work on my mother's place on Sunday-Wednesday and I don't know if I will be able to pipe in. So if you get up on a Sunday morning (or evening) and don't see a POTW started please feel free to jump right in with a new thread.

Thanks for the kind words Douglas! I always try to follow the light so I'm glad that gets noticed.
.
Douglas, all three of your shots this week are very nice, especially the first two. Speaking of light, I think you nailed it on both of those! Well seen and well executed. The octopus is also interesting, but like a moth I'm really drawn to the light! :)
Dorus, it was the best day of the season so far. I'm sure your kids would have enjoyed themselves there! I like your second shot, it's mysterious and I wonder what's behind the door. Nice processing too.
