<p>My go-to combo:</p>

<p>M6 with the 50/2.8 Elmar-M (V2)</p>

<p>leica m4-p with either a 0.95 noctilux or a 28 elmarit</p>

<p>The only camera and lens I can afford <em>now</em> is exactly what I <em>could not really afford</em> many years ago(!) - an M2 and a late 35mm f2.8 Summaron. In reality, it is all that I '<em>need'</em>.</p>

<p>If digital were allowed with modern cropping capability I'd pick a wider lens; as it's specifically excluded I'd say M3 with Apo summicron 50.<br>

The single lens constraint is unreasonable. If limited to one lens then a camera with a fixed lens is better: Hasselblad Superwide perhaps.</p>

<p>Agree with Barry. While I like others do have a favorite combo and light metering device, the important thing is how we use them, where, and why. Showing photos is one way. The other is discussing how and why we use certain pieces of equipment in the process of image-making, which usually only appears outside of the Leica and rangefinder forum.</p>

M6 with a 50mm/f2 Hexanon for travel.<br>

M3 (preferably DS) with a ZM Planar 50mm/f2 for going unwired.<br>

A IIIf with a Canon 50mm/f1.8 or a Nikkor 50mm/f2 for serious work, unwired. (BD fully acceptable, RD better).</p>

Going, "oh yes that's the one". "or maybe that one". "Oh no...that is the one". "On the other hand that combo DOES sound good"<br>

GAS...You gotta love it. No?<br>

I use a M6-TTL and normally a Minolta 40mm.<br>

It's a good combo but I think that I would enjoy using AV leaving me free to concentrate on composition and focussing. Framing thoughts on the 40mm sometimes get in my way too.<br>

So in an ideal world, I would love to try a M7 with a Summicron 35mm type 3 (no plastic like type IV and not so contrasty as an Asph) or maybe a Zeiss 35mm F2 (love the sample pics that I have seen and always liked the Zeiss lenses that I have used previously. <br>

I'd buy the Leica M-A with a 50mm lens. But I have an M2 right now

and it serves me well.

In 1967 i received my M3 new, and 50mm Collapsible Summicron.<br>

Single Film is Kentmere 400 because it dries flat, needed for scanner.</p>
