michaellinder
Has anyone printed images on aluminum? If so, were you satisfied with color, contrast, and detail?
mattwelsh
I've used both Adorama and Bay Photo. I was pleased with the results from both, but twice Adorama had to do reprints from me because it looked like the prints had been packed by gorillas. Serious dents and bends both times.
I've lived in the Bay area for many years and had a studio in Scotts Valley near Santa Cruz and so had used Bay Photo for a long time for medium format film processing. They always did a fantastic job with my prints and they now offer aluminum prints that look simply great.

dcstep
I had one done by BayPhoto and was very pleased with color, contrast, sturdiness, etc. EXCEPT it was too reflective for use in a sunny room. I tried my office, with windows on two side and a home office, with windows on one side and it was too hard to see and appreciate the image. It would probably be wonderful in a situation where you have total control of the light, but I wouldn't recommend it for a sunlit display room.
tom_raymondson1
Bay Photo has several surfaces available, including what they call "mid-gloss" which is supposed to have less glare. I just ordered one that will get strong direct light, so I'm anxious to see how it looks when it arrives in a week or so.
