diane_madura
I am looking to participate in a photo workshop in Iceland sometime in 2015. I am looking for something that would be good for someone at an intermediate level. I have a Nikon D7000 and shoot RAW. I use mostly Lightroom 4.0 and Photoshop CS5. Would love to be able to photograph the Aurora Borealis.
Can someone recommend a photo workshop that they have personally experienced?
znabal
Sean Duggan has one on his calendar for March. I haven't taken his Iceland workshop but I took a workshop he gave at Santa Fe Photographic Workshops a number of years ago. I learned a lot and enjoyed it. He's done Iceland before, I always want to go but I've just not had the time. http://www.seanduggan.com/training/index.html good luck -jeffl
winterlight
I can definitely recommend Marsel van Oosten' s workshops. He runs an Iceland workshop in March. You can find it at http://www.squiver.com.
gungajim
http://www.infocustravel.com/
They are doing an Iceland/Greenland/Faroe Isles in July 2015. I went on one of their tours to China and it went to some really off the beaten path locations.
Two23
I've been there twice and didn't do the workshop thing. I like the freedom of making my own schedule, eating in the great restaurants I choose, and spending as much time as needed where I am. Iceland is one of those places you really don't need a guide as you will find all the great places you'll have time for on your own, and virtually everyone speaks English. If you still think you need someone, I'd skip all of the outsiders and choose a local person. I spent an hour with one of Europe's best photographers, Sigurgeir Sigurjonsson, who lives just down the hill from the cathedral in Reykjavik. This is a man who knows the very soul of Iceland! He & his family do very exclusive photo outings. IF I were to go that route, this is the guy that I would pick. Why pick an outsider?

Kent in SD

Kent in SD
david_henderson
I quite fancied the Squiver /van Oosten trip myself , but when I was researching and booking I just couldn't get those people to respond to emails at all. Seemed kind of unprofessional and I guess I think that anyone who doesn't behave well whilst they're supposed to be trying to enthuse you is eminently capable of giving you a bad time. I did book with someone else but I haven't done the trip yet so shouldn't recommend them.
david_henderson
My apologies to you and Squiver. I was confused between two organisations and Squiver were not the unresponsive one. In fact they seemed very nice, and I couldn't go with them because of a clash of dates and not for any negative reason.
