john_holcomb
I took over 1500 images on Sunday testing the continuous AF with Chris' settings and almost all were in focus, not so much because the continuous AF worked so well, but because it worked well enough and was close enough based on the aperture I was using. I had the aperture stopped down enough that any minor mis-focusing did not really matter. Had I been shooting with a fast aperture lens wide open, many of my shots would have been out of focus.

This is disappointing. What's the point of paying for a fast lens if you can't shoot it wide open?
elliot1
John, you make a good point. I am not an engineer but I would imagine in any of the M43 manufacturers could make reasonable continuous AF part of their cameras, they would have. There is probably some kind of engineering limitation that prevents fast and accurate continuous AF in mirrorless bodies. I have looked into mirrorless bodies other than M43 and they seem to have the same limitations. So I guess I will need to keep my Nikon gear a bit longer. And of course there is always manual focus as an option.
cameraland_mark
Hi
I use both the EM 5 and the EM 1 with the continuous tracking Auto Focus. I have shot Whales in open water, kids running around, and many sporting events and have not had any problems with in focus shooting
