Alex_Es
After wanting this lens for decades I finally got it the other day. The FDn 20-35/3.5 L was at Naniwa Camera, Kobe in AB condition, selling for 45,000 yen and equipped with the rare BW-72 plastic hood. I was not going to pass this bargain up! I bought it along with a good used 72mm protective filter.

Back home I pondered whether to first use this virtually mint lens on one of my FD cameras or get instant gratification by attaching it to my Leica M. I chose the latter.

I'll show you a few examples. But first here is the lens mounted onto the Leica M.

Farkle-Mpls
Alex -- what a great combo. Do you shoot exclusively in Live View using focus peaking?
Alex_Es
Okay, now that that is settled and a lessoned learned about sharpening, here is a shot of Akashi Castle between 24mm and 28mm.

Alex_Es
This is not the best lens to photograph cats with. Here is an early evening scene with a cat at 35mm.

Alex_Es
Hi Carl! I prefer to use the RF mode because it is faster and easier to focus. This lens was best shot in live view.
rick_janes
"Early Evening with Cat" is a really fine feline photo, with all that roaming room as context.
Alex_Es
Thanks so much Rick! Yeah, cats do need space. They aren't happy stuck in apartments.

pensacolaphoto
Congratulations, Alex. I am still with the M8 and M9, and I cannot use my FD lenses on them for any focusing.
alan_swartz
Alex,

Enjoyed those photos. That is one of my most-used lenses. Still using it with 35mm, I find myself using it mostly at 20mm, sometimes zooming longer. I like to use its perspective to emphasize a nearby object against a vast field. It's a favorite travel lens for me. Mine has great contrast.
ian_bell
They are a great lens. Mine has virtually lived on my F-1N's since I got it 10 years ago.
Just had it CLA'd by The Lens Doctor as a thanks for all its hard work! Been following one on Ebay Uk that finished today, reached $670,otherwise I would have bought it. Love it for landscape work
