vice_versa

Hello,
Does anyone know how to get this sort of surrounding backlight in the studio?
I've tried to do so but my problem was that the light sources had a well defined center spot and the surrounding light was kind of dim and not so soft. Maybe the final result has something to do with specific exposure adjustment?
Any advise will be much appreciated. Thanks!
howard_m
maybe there is a diffusion silk or similar in front of the 2 lights. Controlling the distance between the silk and lights will change its 'definition'

rodeo_joe1
It's most likely two lights through a silk or some other scrim. If you up the contrast you can clearly see two distinct lights placed left and right rear of the subject.

bob_bill
Interesting reverse engineering technique. Learned something today. I am guessing 2 strobes with standard 60 degree reflector fitted with 10 degree grid on right and 20 degee on left. The right appears to be angled and bounced off the bg to provide the kicker on her face on it's left side. The right more straight into the bg and from the nose shadow-that I don't like but seems in the same upward angle as from the hot spot on the bg- and the feathered edge of that light onto the right side of her face doing double duty with edge of light there and hot spot on bg. I'm open to other explanations. I agree with Michael, looks like lens flare resulting. For my tastes, the hair is nuked to much.
