dan_brown1
Having acquired a 400/5.6 lens for motorsports, I have decided to try a little nature photography this weekend at the local zoo. Since my childrem will accompany me, I will forego the tripod and shoot handheld. The time of day will be mid-morning and on. I know. I will need to shoot ISO 400 film to keep my shutter speeds up in the hand-holdable range. I am looking for suggestions on film. I have some Superia 400, which I could process at the local minilab. Seems like that might be too contrasty. I also have some NPH I could process at a pro-lab, but that might be flat for animals and bright colors. I could also go buy a roll or two of another emulsion. Any suggestions are welcome.
stanley_mcmanus
I shoot Superia under moderate to heavy cloud cover and it is good for that. The punched up contrast actually may help a bit. But why don't you try the new Portra 400VC (the saturated version, the VC may be wrong.) Won't your mini-lab process NPH? If you have bright light don't use Superia. I have found that Superia is inferia in bright contrasty light.
