<p>Grand Manan, "Super moon" but not so super with wide angle.</p>

<p>Whales were blowing to the left of the field of view but did not cooperate by breaching in the moonlight!</p><div></div>

<p>Tom Pernal - the shot of gaping purple martins made me laugh out loud.</p>

<p>Something different from me this week. Here are three pictures of kites at the Brighton Kite Festival which took place at the weekend. As you can see, the weather is fabulous here at the moment.</p><div></div>

<p>Thanks, Chris & Edwin. That feeding episode went on for quite some time. I would watch the chicks until they started flapping their wings and start shooting bursts cued by their actions. I guess it worked.</p><div></div>

<p>Swamp weather in Maryland is a perfect time to fire up a live steam tractor and experience the heat of coal-fired engines. These pictures are from the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas show outside of Easton MD last weekend where I ran a 1917 Peerless model TT.</p><div></div>

<p>A stationary engine in a relatively cool building (the boiler is outside). Hand held VR worked well to keep the fixed chassis sharp while the 1/8s shutter speed shows motion.</p><div></div>
