dan_meyers1
I've come across an odd item I'd like your feedback on. As the subject line says, it's a USAF 1951 1 X target with the added text "Gurley Troy, N.Y." printed on what seems to be glossy photographic paper.

What's odd (to me) is that is measures only 4" x 5".

Am I mistaken to assume these targets would be much, much larger in size? If necessary, I can post an image later.

What do you think?
SCL
I can't speak to that one, but I have a number of test targets on 5x7 cards, which I place on a rectangular fibreboard matching the 35mm format (when testing 35mm bodies) or whatever format I'm testing, one in the center and one in each corner. Place the camera on a tripod, fill the viewfinder frame with the arrangement making sure all targets are equidistant from their representative locations on the screen and shoot. It is easy to determine resolution and what works and what doesn't with this arrangement.
jim_jones3
Probably many of us have downloaded the USAF 1951 chart and printed it at various sizes. One source of information on the chart is http://www.takinami.com/yoshihiko/photo/lens_test/pdml-procedure.html. In this link, the width of the large black square should be 35.5mm for the resolution figures to be correct.
dan_meyers1
Hey guys, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a few more if I rummage through more of these boxes. Then I can set up a chart with a center and four-corner targets.
