giverin
I've just shot a couple of rolls of Delta 3200 at EI 1600 tonight. I've got D-76 and Tmax dev to hand. Is any one of those going to give me better results than the other? Thanks.
lex_jenkins
Try the T-Max, which is reportedly a decent speed enhancing developer.

I found Delta 3200 at EI 1600 very disappointing in D-76 for low light photos. The true speed of Delta 3200 is closer to EI 1200-1600, depending on developer (developer does have a slight effect on the true speed as determined by lowest measurable density over base plus fog).

I like Diafine for Delta 3200 at EI 1600-3200 in contrasty conditions; otherwise Microphen. But T-Max should do well.

craig_shearman1
The Ilford Delta film are similar to the T-grain technology of Kodak TMax films, so the Tmax developer designed for those films would be logical. But I've developed Delta/Tmax in D-76 and I've developed Tri-X/HP5 in Tmax. Personally I've stocked D-76 (most of the time) and Tmax (occasionally) but never both.
dave_redmann
Another vote for DD-X, at least if you care much about the results. IMO, Delta 3200 is most useful at about EI 2000, developed in DD-X 1+4, for about the time Ilford recommends for EI 3200. (I suspect that Xtol would be a decent alternative.)

I suspect that Delta 3200 is really about ISO 1250 in DD-X 1+4, ISO 1000 in D-76 straight, and ISO 800 in D-76 1+1. Don't know about T-Max developer. Of course, Delta 3200 at its 'true' (ISO method) speed will look pretty flat, and mitigate or defeat the purpose of using Delta 3200.
User_502260
You can also try Clayton F60. It is available from Freestyle. It works well for pushing and does not cost very much.
