lex_jenkins
Jim Palmer - that is the niftiest looking ice pattern I've ever seen. Looks almost like snakeskin or fish scales. Any idea how it formed that way?
jpalmer57
Lex,
Thanks. Some places it looks lacy and in others like geometric polygons and others just random shapes. No idea what caused it. I didn't really notice the details until I processed the shots. The ice was starting to melt so I don't know if the details formed on freezing or at the onset of melting.

To shoot a retro-style portrait, you are required to use a Nikon Df with a pre-AI lens. :-)

Western Grebe at the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge, Fremont, California. ShunCheung
Western Grebes are divers. They dive down to fish. If you miss the action, you'll end up with water splashes, although in this case, I inteneded to get the splash on purpose.
