lonnie_prahl
my Leica D-Lux6? :) I'm considering this Nikon r-finder, so if anyone has used it and can tell me if it's worth buying, it would be really great.
Thanks for any feedback.
SCL
Doesn't it already have autofocus? If so, I don't understand why you would want a separate rangefinder.
joe_allebaugh
Are you are considering using the Nikon rangefinder device to measure distances to your subjects in order to manually pre-set the lens' range and aperture for required DOF? It would seem that using an added EVF for your camera would be more useful (if using the LCD view is currently not adequate).

A quick mental estimate might result in less time and effort after practice, and the EVF or LCD view would give you more immediate and accurate visual feedback.
steve_bellayr
Do you mean an external viewfinder? If so, Leica.
aplumpton
There doesn't seem to be much need to use an external rangefinder on the D-Lux-6, given the very short focal lengths of its zoom lens and small size sensor that allow just about any image to be in focus, even at wide f-stops. There is a manual focus feature on the camera if you don't like the autofocus, and that can be used to zone focus, such that you can refine the depth of field of the lens if required.
bobtodrick
Here's the best...and it's made by Leica (Geosystems).
http://www.vectronix.us/html/us/products/systems/sterna_precision_target_location_system
Accurate to within a couple of meters at 12000m (7.5 miles).
Probably not what you're looking for though ;-)
dhbebb
I don't have one, but the Nikon specs say 1/2-yard resolution - sounds like something for shooters and golfers. For photographic use I would recommend a good ol' Leica rangefinder - only trouble is they seem to have gotten more expensive lately. I have 4 or 5 and use them with all my cameras that don't have a focusing aid.
